Three arrested following knifepoint carjacking |
||
|
We have arrested three people after responding quickly to a report of a knifepoint carjacking in Tamworth. At about 1.30am this morning (Thursday 29 January), we were called to a road off Lichfield Street, Fazeley. Three suspects walked up to the car and opened the doors. They threatened the victim with a knife and drove off after he got out the car. The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident. Officers in the area responded to a sighting of the car and followed it on to County Drive. The officer, who was in the area at the time, was single-crewed but managed to detain all three people inside the car. A knife and class A drugs were found inside. Three men, aged 48, 37 and 35, all from Tamworth, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. They will be questioned in custody. Vehicle offences in Staffordshire have fallen by eight per cent (September 2024 to September 2025), including theft of vehicles which is down by 440 offences. We’re continuing to target those involved in this type of crime and to take robust action to protect the belongings of our communities. | ||
